Dharwad often referred to as Dharwar, is a city in the Karnataka region of northwest India. It shares a border with the city of Hubballi and serves as the administrative center for the Karnataka district of Dharwad. The twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad were created in 1962 with their merger with Hubballi. It is situated 430 kilometers (270 miles) northwest of Bangalore on NH-48 between Bangalore and Pune, with a total area of 213 sq km (82 sq mi).
