After Mullayyanagiri and Kudremukh, it is Karnataka’s third tallest summit. Located in the Western Ghats range, it is 1,748 m high.

It is a pretty famous place for many trekking and travel lovers as it also gives everyone a chance to visit Madikeri/Coorg.

Going to Thadiyandamol hills is one of the best trips of mine which I have ever made. To reach the peak, it takes 3-4 hours from the base of the hill.

Day 1

It was the start of 2019 and was the first weekend. On a Saturday morning, me and my friends Chirag and Kevin were sitting on our bikes in the parking lot. And suddenly the thought of a trip flashed through our mind. We quickly started planning and decided to go to Thadiyandamol.

We bunked our classes and went home to pack. We kick-started our journey towards Somvarpet and we reached there in the evening. We decided to rest here for the night.

Day 2

We woke up at 5 in the morning the next day and started our journey towards Thadiyandamol. It was early morning and the road was filled with fog and had zero visibility for the riders. We had to go slowly and cautiously. We stopped in one of the petrol bunks and there, they advised us to go carefully because there will be the chances of encountering elephants on the way.

We freaked out for a moment. The fear kicked in as we started riding and we were very cautious like a 360-degree view.

After an hour, we finally reached the base of the Thadiyandamol.  Parked our bikes there and walked for about 7kms.

After completing the trek of about 2kms, we reached the base of the hill or the starting point. A check post is located there and they charged us INR 50/- per person.

The first stretch will be a normal forest walk at the end of which we will reach a hill view point – A beautiful view. The path started getting difficult as the next path contained big sized rocks.

The beautiful view of nature accompanies us while walking throughout this trek. Then came the dense forest stretch for about 1km. It seems a little bit difficult for beginners but can be manageable. After the forest track, we walked about 500 meters to reach the peak.

It is a beautiful breath-taking view from the top of the hill. It’s like infinity hills – there is no end. We also met our other friends and travelers who also shared their journey.

We recommend you to enjoy the journey throughout this trek. Have fun and stay safe.
